Do yourself a favor, take a break from work and check out this video. Then do yourself a huge favor, call three of your best friends and book a trip to Stellar Heliskiing. Jason, Martin and the crew are a heck of a lot of fun to ski with.
Oh... and the snow reports coming out of Stellar have been, well...Stellar!
Here is a little gem of an edit we found on the web this morning. It is produced by B4Apres Media from a recent Christmas / New Years 2011 trip to Great Canadian Heliskiing. It features some amazing bird's eye view video from above a very picturesque burn area with some chill tunes courtesy of the GCH staff and guests!
This video makes us want to travel to the northern corner of this great province.
Last Frontier Heliskiing has come up with another fantastic video illustrating what makes them awesome. I mean come on, the largest terrain in the world! Who doesn't want to go explore that? There is a shot near the end of the video that zooms out and gives you a pretty good idea on the massiveness of their terrain..and that is just one area! On their website they say the make the most out of every run. Dropping you off at the highest possible point the alpine and ending near the bottom of the valley in the trees. You get big open powder fields, bowls full of deep northern fluff, tree skiing amongst large northern evergreens and terrain features to play on everywhere.
We hope you enjoy this little teaser for Last Frontier Heli Skiing as much as we did. Maybe you will even book a trip and get up there this season. If you do, tell them we sent ya!
PS - Check out the massive cheese wheel at around 2:30 in the video....awesome!
This video popped up on our radar this morning and we saw that there is a short shot of a helicopter in it. We don't know which operator but we figured that since we saw the chopper that was all we needed to post it! This is a heli-centred website afterall.
We apologize up front because the powder shots in this little video will ruin your day if you are sitting in an office! Tell ya what, check out our list of operators here, give one a call and book a trip. There has been a few storm cycles roll through lately and we are expecting an epic March. Come on now...pick up that phone, fake an illness and get out of the office!
Here is a little look back at some La Nina powder from up at Snowwater last season. In January 2011, Zack Giffin and Callum Pettit headed up for a quick trip to Snowwater Heliskiing outside of Nelson BC. They took along photographer Grant Gunderson and tore up the place for a few days. Here is some great footage of the nice pillow lines one could expect at Snowwater this season...
Word on the street is that the snow is piling up at Snowwater and they will be all fired up for another La Nina pounding! They even put a little extra work in this early season and got their back-up cat roads into Peak 2 which is a first from what we hear.
This time it's the cover of Transworld Snowboarding
Stellar Heliskiing is on a roll this season. Last month they ended up on the coveted cover of Powder Magazine and this month they are featured on the cover of Transworld Snowboard Magazine! We recall Jason from Stellar telling us late last season that he was hosting a few film crews that were bound for Alaska but instead stayed around the Kootenays. We can see why...
BC's youngest heli skiing operation gets a boost from Powder Magazine
Ever since we were kids we dreamed about getting our picture in Powder Magazine. What is the next best thing to getting yourself on the pages of Powder? Having your heliskiing company featured on the cover! Jason Remple, founder of Stellar Heliskiing in Kaslo BC did just that with this awesome shot of Chad Sayers. The pic was taked during a window of sunshine in the middle of last season's epic La Nina storm cycle. The man behind the camera was Jordan Manely (Sherpas). Great shot from a great operation. We are looking forward to checking out Stellar this season and bringing you more photos, stories and videos of the experience.
If you are looking for an amazing experience in the mountains, consider Stellar Heli Skiing this season. Their rates are reasonable and their terrain looks epic. We had the pleasure of skiing with Jason as our guide on another trip last season and we can tell you, he is an excellent guide. We also just got word that our good friend Martin (formerly of Valhalla PowderCats) has joined the Stellar team. With another La Nina season around the corner, incredible terrrain and a guiding staff that is second to none, Stellar will be the place to heliski this season!
It's never too far or too deep when we are talking powder!
Growing up a skier here in British Columbia you hear the stories about the legendary powder dumps up in the north coast ranges. More specifically in the Terrace area. I even remember tales about local resorts fibbing on their snow reports because people wouldn't believe that they actually had that much snow. When I saw this video teaser summing up the 2011 season at Northern Escape Heli-Skiing I definitely starting thinking that this may have to be the year to get up to Terrace and search out some legendary turns myself.
Norther Escape Heliskiing is located a short 20 minute drive the the Terrace airport and there are flights that leave daily from Vancouver. So accessing this remote, wild, and deep area of BC isn't has difficult as it may look at first glance. With all the rumors of back-to-back La Nina seasons we suggest that this be the season you go check it out too. Hey, maybe we'll see you up there!
